Dr. Jerry Brown, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, enters his 38th year coaching and 25th as an AAAA head football Coach. He has won one AAAA Division I State Championship (at Spring Valley in Columbia) and two AAAA Division II State Championships, both at BHS. In 15 years under Coach Brown, the Stags are 144-53 and have been ranked in the top 10 nine times. His current overall record is 206-97. He has coached 2 nationally ranked teams ('89 and '94). Coach Brown has been named statewide coach of the year in '88,'94, and '96 as well as regional coach of the year several years. He served as OC in a record setting win in the N.C./S.C Shrine Bowl game in 2000. S.C. defeated N.C. by a score of 66-14. He has also served as O.C. in the S.C. North-South game and will serve as head coach this year.
Coach Brown has coached 5 players that went on to the NFL to play 5 or more years and has coached over 50 Division 1 college players. In 1993, Coach Brown completed his Doctorate in Health Education from USC. He teaches physical education and is Athletic Director at Berkeley High. Coach Brown has been married to Mary Ames for 25 years; they reside in Moncks Corner, SC.

Stephanie D. Kinder, a native of South Carolina, focuses her practice on business and commercial litigation matters including employment, insurance and real estate. She provides legal representation to businesses and individuals in state and federal court as well as administrative agencies including the Office of Administrative Hearings, Board of Appeals for the Department of Labor Licensing and Review of the State of Maryland, the EEOC and the Maryland Commission on Human Relations.
A former Deputy Attorney General for the State of Delaware, Stephanie has extensive trial experience. She has handled a wide variety of trial matters including contractual disputes, business torts such as fraud and misrepresentation, employment claims, and negligence. She has also represented government agencies in civil rights claims including Section 1983.
Stephanie is a member of the state bars of Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia. She has also been admitted to practice before the United States District Courts of Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Stephanie is the co-author of Harassment and Discrimination: A Manager's Guide to Avoiding Employment Practices Liability. She is a frequent speaker at human resource organizational meetings as well as continuing legal education seminars. |

Florence McCants is a graduate of Spring Valley High School. From there she decided to further her education by attending Georgia Southern University located in Statesboro, Georgia.
Florence Graduated from Georgia Southern in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, and a minor in Sociology with an emphasis in Correctional Counseling.
Her first job was at Georgia State Prison, where she worked first as the Operations Analyst, then Offender Rehabilitation. Upon returning to South Carolina she began working with the Capitol Police, securing the State Capitol and other state owned property.
Florence joined the Columbia Police Department in 1992, and was promoted to Master Patrolman in 1994. She was transferred to Investigations of the Metro Region in 1994, and then to Internal Affairs in 1995. She was promoted to Investigator I March of 1997 and again to Investigator II in 1998.
Florence was promoted to Sergeant in February of 2004, and remained in Internal Affairs.
Florence was transferred to Public Relations in January of 2004. She is a member of the Trustee Committee and serves as the Finance Officer at her church, Village of Hope. She has been very involved in the youth of the church. |

Lamar W. Smith is a public relations practitioner that has carved out his niche in the field of child welfare. After graduating from Spring Valley High School in Columbia, South Carolina, he went on to attend Clark Atlanta University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Media Arts / Public Relations. Lamar has always taken seriously his civic responsibility and commitment to community and family. That has been reflected in his career path thus far. He began his career with the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) in a community resource / public relations position and then quickly rose through the ranks to eventually become the Communications Manager for the county social services department. As a member of the executive team he was exposed to the operations of child welfare management and choose to turn his attention and career focus in that direction.
With his passion for communications never far behind, Lamar has also done freelance writing and events coordination for clients in the entertainment industry as well as grassroots community organizations. He has also served as a public relations advisor on political campaigns in Atlanta, Georgia and Ewing, New Jersey.
In 2005, Mr. Smith was one of several child welfare professionals chosen to help reform New Jersey's child welfare system. As the Assistant Director of Training he was a member of national child welfare expert Beverly W. Jones' executive team, and contributed to the reformation of that system's training program, establishment of the State's first child welfare training consortium, and the development of a case practice model. Currently, Lamar works for the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services where he manages statewide programs including: Emergency Management Services, Constituent Services, and Faith Based and Community Initiatives.
Lamar remains committed to children and families and continues to hold a passion for the field of communications. He is working toward integrating child welfare best practices and crisis communication to assist governmental and civic organizations.
Lamar Smith currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. A professional mentor once shared with him, and he believes, in the importance of planning and setting career goals for one's self, however warns against becoming so rigid in your plans that they become a hindrance to professional development and growth. Kristin M. Williams is currently employed at Central Dauphin School District as a third grade teacher in Central Pennsylvania. For the past eight years, Kristin has been working with families in her home town community as a tutor and swimming instructor. She strives to help children succeed in social and academic areas. |
